How Strong Is My CBD Oil?
Understanding the labelling of CBD oil and what all the numbers mean can be a little daunting if you’re new to it.
However, it’s really important that you do understand what you’re looking at because it can help ensure you get your CBD dosage right and understand what the best product is for you, enabling you to make an informed choice about what you’re buying.
At Orange County CBD, our award-winning CBD oils are labelled with the amount of CBD contained in the volume of each product. You may have bought CBD in the past that was labelled with a percentage instead, but we believe that knowing the number of milligrams (mg) included in each bottle is more important and a more useful way to measure for accurately dosing CBD.
CBD oil strength explained
If we look at two bottles of CBD oil that both contain 500mg of CBD, but one is a 10ml bottle and the other contains 30ml, these are two different strengths of oil. This is because they both contain the same amount of CBD in total, but in a different volume of oil, so the 30ml CBD oil bottle is not as strong as the 10ml bottle.
From 10ml of 500mg CBD oil, you will get 200 drops from the pipette, so you can calculate that each drop contains 2.5mg of CBD by dividing 500 by 200. So, if you take 4 drops of this CBD oil at a time, you know that you are getting 10mg of CBD in each dose.
With the 30ml bottle of 500mg CBD oil, the same amount of CBD is contained in 30ml of oil, from which you will get 600 drops. This means that the calculation to work out the number of mg in each drop is 500 by 600, which means each drop contains just over 0.8mg. That means that to get a dose of 10mg of CBD, you would need to take around 12 drops of this CBD oil.
You can do this calculation for any strength of CBD oil to help you work out the product that gives the dosage you’re looking for in a specified number of drops. The main figure you need to remember is that each 10ml of oil equates to 200 drops from the pipette – so in 30ml bottles that is 600 drops and in 100ml bottles that will be 2000 drops.
CBD dosing advice
If you’re new to CBD, it’s recommended that you start with a low daily dose of CBD oil (of around 10mg-20mg per day) and then you can very gradually increase this dose over time until you find what works best for you. You can find more CBD oil dosing advice here.
